ABUS is the first padlock manufacturer in the world with operations certified as “Zero Waste to Landfill.

At ABUS, we believe that safety should also stand for responsibility. That’s why we are proud to share that our largest production facility has become the first padlock factory in the world validated by UL as “Zero Waste to Landfill.” This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and efficient resource management.

Since 2012, our operations have maintained a 98% landfill diversion rate, ensuring that virtually no waste ends up in landfills. In 2021, we reached UL’s Gold validation level, reaffirming our leadership in environmental practices within the industry.

We also strive to reduce the environmental impact of our products. Our 72, 74, and 76 padlock series contain an average of 75% recycled content, marking a significant step toward more responsible and conscious manufacturing.
